Beginning in Year 5, students of the Cathedral Choir School embark upon learning Latin. The study of Latin will provide deep insight into some modern foreign language comprehension, as well as the basis for understanding the etymology of many English words.

Year 5 begins this work with Minimus. This course promotes enthusiasm for Latin and awareness of aspects of Roman culture.

Year 6 continues on with Minimum Secundus.

Years 7 and 8 study the Common Entrance Course entitled So You Really Want to Learn Latin, and is much more grammar and language-based. Supplemental Roman culture projects and activities will be utilized in order to carry on with the non-linguistic aspect of the course.
