Admission Procedure

The Cathedral Choir School Ripon is a non-selective co-educational prep school which caters for all children and provides an education based on individual assessment.

Any assessment conducted before entry is for informing planning only. It is not part of a selection procedure, except for Choristers, who must reach a certain standard of reading in order to be able to cope with Chorister requirements.

Chorister


The Cathedral awards all boy choristers a scholarship to the value of the 50% of the fees in recognitions of their commitment to the Cathedral music. All boy choristers must attend the Cathedral Choir School in order to fulfill their obligations.

The School awards girl choristers a scholarship of 20% of the fees. It is recommended that girls attend the Cathedral Choir School where rehearsals take place, but this recommendation does not form part of their contract with the Cathedral.

Academic Scholarships

Academic Scholarships are awarded on an individual basis at the Headmaster's discretion.

 
Bursaries

The School has a small bursary fund from which support can be given to families in need. The maximum awarded from this fund is 20% of the years fees.

All bursaries are awarded following the completion of a financial test form which is completed on an annual basis.

Ripon Cathedral Choir School Uniform List

All clothing, including underwear and socks, must be clearly named, with sew-on woven nametapes. Footwear must also be clearly named.
